Ant and Dec

Ant & Dec bag £35K Cash for Kids

Everyone’s favourite Geordie duo has helped to raise a fantastic £35,000 for a local charity close to their hearts, Cash for Kids.

Ant and Dec attended Cash for Kids Charity lunch at Newcastle Civic Centre which was hosted by Metro Radio breakfast presenters Steve and Karen and included an intimate performance from boy-band Blue.

The event was attended by 300 guests, including some of the most high-profile companies in the North East, who enjoyed canapés and drinks reception, a 5 course sumptuous lunch, sponsored by Brakes, live entertainment and chances to win spectacular prizes on the day. One guest won a diamond worth £1300 and another won a luxury 5 night break to Dubai.

Both Ant & Dec wore specially designed Cash for Kids jewellery, from local company; Clusters Bespoke Jewellery and encouraged guests to buy theirs too before taking questions from the floor on everything from I’m a Celebrity to Newcastle United. There was even a special rendition of one of PJ & Duncan’s former hits by Dec and breakfast presenter Steve Furnell.

Cash for Kids Charity Manager, Lynsey Thompson, said: “We were delighted to be able to bring Ant and Dec back to Newcastle in such an intimate setting. Guests got to see the duo up close and personal, ask them questions and they thrilled the audience with funny anecdotes and charm. They are a real credit to the charity and the North East and we cannot thank them enough for their continued support. Their involvement, along with the overwhelming support from our main sponsors, Brakes Food, Mill Volvo and Newcastle Civic Centre has helped to raise a fantastic amount of money which will directly benefit children who need it most in our region.”

Declan Donnelly said: “We have been Patrons of Cash for Kids for over 10 years now and it really is special to us to see the charity grow, and knowing that every penny stays right here in our region, helping those children in our community that really need our help, is important to us.”

Ant McPartlin said “We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the event sponsors for making this event happen today and to everyone there for giving us such a warm welcome back home.”
