Sunderland favourite, The Place Café, is now running an additional venue, the picturesque event venue; Quayside Exchange.

The Place Café Bar and Bistro, known and loved in Sunderland for its food and service as well as beautiful function rooms, has collaborated with The Quayside Exchange to create ThePlace at the Quayside Exchange.

The collaboration, which commenced in September, has since saw the Historic Grade II listed venue, The Quayside Exchange, undergo a number of subtle changes including a re-vamp of their reception and suites, new function menus and packages and huge concentration on other celebrations and seminars. The other area of concentration has been on improving or revamping food and drinks packages, weddings and other function menus and food quality.

Parviz Alizadeh (Ali), Managing Director of Place Café told us why he had taken on the venue:

“The Place Café Bar Bistro has kept us busy over the last few years’ whilst we developed the brand in Sunderland, however my team and I decided another challenge was in order and before we knew it, I was in discussions for the running of the Quayside Exchange. It’s such rewarding work, but there is so much potential. We are starting right at the beginning and ensuring that the basics are covered first, before we roll out all of the new plans, but what we would like to say to all of our clients is; wait and see what surprises we have in store for you and the venue, I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.”

Located near the heart of Sunderland’s city centre, the function venue is home to three unique function rooms and a contemporary bar; the Tempest. Each room taking on a different theme, to ensure there’s a room suited to every guest’s taste.

The Grand room, featuring Georgian windows overlooking the River Wear and the Vault Suite, features a riverside terrace, and has hosted many a wedding, civil ceremony and party. The Tempest bar, which was fully refurbished in 2017, is a contemporary, atmospheric venue for a party of any kind, ideal for birthdays, anniversaries and fun celebrations.

The management will be concentrating on building up the use of the function suites for conferences, exhibitions etc, and they are hoping that the business community will support the local venue on their doorstep, rather than travel further afield to host their events.

The plan is to hire local people in the vacant positions created by the new structure and workload and Ali and his team are confident that the venue can be brought up to the standards of its heyday.

The Place Café aims to provide a more exclusive experience for guests at The Quayside Exchange, but promises to deliver the same quality, service and value for money that they are renowned for.

The collaboration between the two venues is set to create a duo of function facilities and aims to be the home of celebrations in the Sunderland area.

Ali concluded: “If you’re looking for a place to host your next event, we’d love to hear from you, so please feel free to give our expert team a call at the Quayside Exchange on 0191 514 4574, email us on events@quaysideexchange.com or find us on Facebook.”
