Taste of Success within grasp for North East eatery

Jesmond’s Peace and Loaf is in the running for a prestigious Good Food Guide award – less than 18 months after opening.

The restaurant, fronted by former Masterchef finalist Dave Coulson, is on the shortlist for the guide’s reader’s restaurant of the year award 2016 and with voting half way through; they are among the frontrunners for the region.

Peace and Loaf’s business manager Geeta Ral said:

“To get even one nomination is a fantastic feeling, but to be on the halfway list of leading candidates is amazing.

“The trick now is to get our customers both old and new to get online, and get nominating so we can turn their nominations into the award and repay them for their faith in us!”

The award which is voted for by the public looks at the standards of food as well as service and it’s something Geeta is confident that they can deliver.

“With Dave in the kitchen, a lot of the focus is on the food, which is to be expected as we are a restaurant after all, but it’s important that the waiting staff and everyone who makes a diners visit to us as special as possible get the recognition they deserve.

“The Good Food award is a big thing for us, and being on the list of favourites is down to everyone here and their hard work”

The restaurant, which opened in November 2013 has gained rave reviews since, with the Journal’s secret diner giving it six stars and describing it as “superb” as well as a recent visit from The Guardian/Observer’s leading critic Jay Rayner set to be published this Sunday, April 19.

Voting for the Good Food Awards can be done online at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/feedback with voting closing 11 May. The regional winners will be announced 1 July, with overall readers’ restaurant of the year winner announced in August.
